Cardenal Turkson: "¿Un papa negro? ¿Y por qué no?"

Youtube5 de octubre de 2009. Cuando un periodista preguntó al cardenal de Cape Coast, Ghana, Peter Turkson, si cree que en el futuro podría haber un Papa negro, éste respondió así.

"The Church has a very successful way of making everybody a bishop of Rome, a pope is not only a pope of the Church but is also the bishop of Rome, that´s why every cardinal is given a church in Rome and then he´s part of the clergy of Rome and that just prepares him to be the bishop of Rome.
And that is the challeng of the Gospel to be able to transend some of the impositions of ethnicity history."

"Part of it is, you know a black president in a position of leadership, we´ve had it before in Koffi Annam from Ghana be the secretary of the United Nations, He had problems, but he still did it. And now it is Obama of the United States. And if by divine providence — because the Church belongs to God — if God would wish to see a black man also as pope, thanks be to God
!"
