Cardinal Francisco Robles was elected by his fellow Mexican bishops, to lead the conference for the next three years.

The 63 year old became a cardinal in 2007 and he is also the Archbishop of Guadalajara. He  grew up in a large family, as he is the third of 16 siblings.
