Cardinal José Francisco Robles Ortega, becomes Guadalajara's new Archbishop

YoutubeDecember 7, 2011. (Romereports.com) The city of Guadalajara in Mexico has a new Archbishop. It's 62 year old Cardinal José Francisco Robles Ortega, who up until recently served as the Archbishop of Monterrey.

He will replace 78 year old Juan Sandoval Iñiguez, who resigned because of age limit restrictions.


Cardinal Ortega was born in Mascota, Jalisco. He became a  priest in 1976 and a bishop in 1991. He's know as an expert in inter-religious dialogue and he's also a member of the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization.
