May 17, 2012. (Romereports.com) Negotiations between the Society of St. Pius X and Rome, are once again in the spotlight. Now it seems like a reconciliation may not be as close, as once thought. For now, both the Vatican and the traditionalist group are limiting their public comments.

“It is clear that I cannot speak publicly about what we speak about in this sense. It is clear, we must prepare something. In the end, the Holy Father decides.”
The terms of a possible reconciliation are reportedly triggering a division among the Society of St. Pius X. Apparently, three of the four bishops from the group do not agree with the terms of the reconciliation, which among other things include having legitimate discussions on the document formulations of the Second Vatican Council.
The main problem though, is that for years, the traditionalist group has not accepted the Second Vatican Council nor the Magisterium that has followed.

“We cannot be Catholic and not accept the Vatican Council and the Magisterium of the Catholic Church, after the Second Vatican Council.”
It was believed that the Vatican would issue its response by the end of May, but now that date is unknown.
