July 30, 2010. The Cardinal Newman Society sponsored the Eastertide Prayer Campaign for the Pope beginning on Wednesday of Holy Week.  By Pentecost Sunday more than 1 million prayers were collected in support of the pope, including more than 24,000 Masses.

The Cardinal Newman Society delivered the prayer bouquet containing a list of collected prayers to Archbishop Timothy Dolan of New York and to Archbishop Pietro Sambi, the apostolic nuncio to the United States.  Archbishop Sambi then delivered the document to the Vatican.

The President of Cardinal Newman Society Patrick J. Reilly said, “It is our firm conviction that encouraging loyalty and devotion to the Pope is a sure path to strengthening Catholic identity in Catholic higher education and throughout the Church.”
