August 24, 2012. (Romereports.com) Cardinal Paul Shan Kuo-Hsi has died at the age of 89. The
Cardinal of Taiwan passed away after a five year battle with lung cancer.
The media friendly Cardinal was well known in China's public eye, for constantly talking about the Catholic Church in communist China. He was also known for his work in inter-religious dialogue.
The Bishop emeritus of Kaohsiung was ordained a priest back in 1955. Years later in 1998, John Paul II made him a Cardinal.
With his death, the number of cardinals drops to 207. From those, 118 are currently eligible to vote in case of a conclave.
