American Cardinal Sean O'Malley was born in Lakewood, Ohio. The 68-year-old Capuchin friar
was ordained a priest at 26, and has a doctorate in Spanish and Portuguese Literature. He began his pastoral work in Washington, D.C., with the local Hispanic community. He would later lead services for Latinos living in San Francisco.
In the simplicity and charisma that has come to define him,
he asks others to call him Cardinal Sean, instead of Cardinal O'Malley.
