March 9, 2013. (Romereports.com) Mexican Cardinal Francisco Robles Ortega is the current archbishop of
Guadalajara. He grew up within a numerous family, he is the third of 16
brothers. He just turned 64 years old, in Rome, during the Sede Vacante
period.
He is a simple man, and very approachable. He enjoys sports, especially soccer, and enjoys having his own car. Despite speaking out publicly against drug trafficking and receiving several threats, he has refused bodyguards.

He started off as an altar boy at the church in his native Mascota. In 1976, he was ordained priest, and in 2007 Benedict XVI created him cardinal. He studied theology at Rome's Gregorian University, and his avid interest in literature led to a degree in humanities and philosophy. Since 2012, he serves as the president of Mexican Episcopal Conference.
