Cardinal Jorge Urosa Savino presided a
funeral mass for deceased president Hugo Chavez.
The archbishop of Caracas is in Rome to take part in the conclave.
He was joined by the Venezuelan community in Italy, as well as Latin American dignitaries to the Vatican. During the ceremony, he asked God to look after the Chavez and his family.

“In my role as bishop of the Church of God, I invite you all to pray to the Lord to grant him eternal rest and take him to his eternal Glory. I express my most sincere condolences to his parents, siblings, children and other family. Also to his government, his friends and his followers.”
The cardinal called for unity among all Venezuelans, to move the country forward despite their political views.

“Brothers and sisters, let us pray with fervor for our beloved homeland, Venezuela. So that we can live fraternally, as members of one country, and so what we can peacefully resolve our differences.”
The cardinals also brought up the importance the upcoming conclave has for the Catholic Church, and asked for prayers for whomever is elected Pope.
