YoutubeNovember 26, 2009. Cardinal Joseph Zen of Hong Kong has published a 22-page guide that explains the letter Pope Benedict XVI wrote to Chinese Catholics in 2007.

According to recent reports, the guide will be distributed at all Chinese parishes on November 30th, and will be available on the diocese website.

The guide titled “An aid for reading the Holy Fathers letter to Catholics in China,” includes remarks and explanations that Cardinal Zen hopes will clarify some of the Pope’s passages.

The pope wrote the letter to Chinese Catholics in June of 2007 and touched on burning issues, such as the topic of underground Catholics in China and the relationship between the Church and the government.

Some Chinese had reportedly felt the Pope’s letter sent a contradictory message. An idea Cardinal Zen want to put to rest.
