November 22, 2012. (Romereports.com) Benedict XVI addressed Catholic and
Shiite Muslim leaders on Wednesday on the closing of a three day
conference focused on justice.
“I offer a cordial greeting to the participants in the conference on C atholic and Muslim cooperation in promoting justice in the contemporary world,” said
Benedict XVI.During the meting, he urged them to continue their work to foster cooperation and interreligious dialogue between the two faiths.
The participants agreed upon a set of principles shared by both faiths.
Among them, were their common belief in
one God providing a holistic understanding of justice, their belief in human dignity, and how justice can adapt to challenges.
They also agreed that religious leaders have a responsibility to
denounce injustice, and to promote greater cooperation between the faiths.
The next meeting between the two groups will take place in
Tehran in 2014.
