YoutubeNovember 21, 2012. (Romereports.com) Among the thousands of people who attend the Pope's general audience, it's not surprising that Italians usually outnumber the rest. These young Italian musicians came to celebrate a key anniversary with the Pope. Forty years ago, back in 1972, the musical association they play in, was created.

“The association is made up mostly young musicians. Throughout the year they practice twice a week. In the summer, when everyone is out on the beach, they perform in festivals, parades and concerts.”

Even though they're all busy with school or work, they all make the time for music. In fact, Danila is also a mother and it's actually not the first time she has taken part in a Papal audience.

“It's very exciting. I also had the opportunity to participate in an audience with Pope John Paul II. We were very nervous because it was the first time we were in St. Peter's Square.”

After the adrenaline and the performance comes the most important moment of all: a reaction and applause from the Pope. They say that without a doubt, that is the best reward of all.

“I'm also a musician and so I was especially excited. I was touched when the Pope, who is a music expert, applauded after we played the hymn. Then I had the honor of greeting him. He congratulated me and then asked me to congratulate the director and the musicians of the association, on his behalf.”

Once the Papal audience was officially over, the music kept on playing outside the Vatican's Paul VI Hall. Many of these musicians know that playing for the Pope will be one of most unforgettable performance of their lives.
