YoutubeJune 29, 2012. (Romereports.com) Today Benedict XVI imposed the pallium on 43 archbishops that were appointed over the past year. Among them were four archbishops from the United States. They included Charles Joseph Chaput, Archbishop of Philadelphia, William Charles Skurla the Archbishop of Pittsburgh of the Byzantines, William Edward Lori, Archbishop of Baltimore, and Archbishop Samuel J. Aquila of Denver.

The pallium is a band of lamb's wool that the pope personally delivers each June 29 on the feast of Saints Peter and Paul.

In addition to a symbol of unity with the Pope, it reminds bishops of their role as pastors and they should take good care of their flocks.
