This is one of the Vatican's first web pages. Clerus-dot-org was developed by the Congregation for the Clergy. The initiative is celebrating its 10th year online, offering access to documents, news and information about the Holy See.

The 400,000 priests in the world live in very different situations, so we had to develop different services to cater to all the realities in which these priests are living.

With over 15,000 titles in six languages, this digital library is also available for those who don't have Internet access. All of the web content is found on this CD-ROM, which can be copied onto a computer. The Congregation for the Clergy has produced over 140,000 copies sent out to the most remote corners of the world, where Internet doesn't reach.

Ten years after it began, clerus-dot-org hopes to continue offering better services through the most advanced technologies.

The digital convergence is so big that we have to be present. If we are present in one technology we have to be present in all of them. More than thinking about how we are going to pioneer into a new technology, I believe the true pioneer is the one that hits the mark with the service it provides.

And by hitting that mark clerus-dot-org has become an indispensable resource for priests and religious around the world.

To celebrate ten years they have renovated the website and CD-ROMs in order to keep up with technological advancements and new generations.

This is our culture, whether we like it or not, this is our reality and it is advancing. If new generations are on Internet, that's where we have to go. Even the Pope with his presence on YouTube has given an extraordinary example, we have to go there as well.

Today more than ever it seems the Holy See is determined to be present in new technologies. But websites like clerus-dot-org, that began in 1998, prove that the Church has reached out to new technologies for some time.
