January 27, 2011. Colombia's embassy to the Vatican has launched a competition for Colombian youth between the ages 14 and 30, for a chance to win one of 18 spots for a free trip to the World Youth Day 2011 in Madrid.

Colombia's Ambassador to the Vatican“Ourselves along with the Revel Foundation in Colombia and the editorial Planeta in Colombia, are working together to judge the best applicants, to help support these young people participate in the World Youth Day in August.”Colombians wishing to participate should write an essay or create short video on the document "Caritas in veritate" by Benedict XVI or on the messages of John Paul II at the World Youth Days in Rome and Toronto.

Colombia's ambassador to the Vatican“We want closer ties to Colombia's youth through their writings about this event which undoubtedly marks a milestone in the spiritual, theological and doctrinal worlds.”The deadline for submitting work is May 13. Twenty days later the winners will be announced on the official website for the contest.
According to the embassy, around 2,000 Colombian youth are currently planning to travel to Madrid for World Youth Day.
