January 11, 2011. The non-profit organization 'Showing Christianism' has launched an international film competition in the attempts to promote Christianity. The focus of their contest, called the Kerygma Awards, is to help spread Pope Benedict XVI's message to young people. Submissions should be based on one of the 16 selected texts such as 'A peculiar God' and 'Following Jesus' that the Pope has given to young audiences.
The creator of the video that best expresses his message will take home $10,000. As well as having their video played at the next World Youth Day in Madrid.
The contest is open to everyone between the ages of 17 and 25. The videos will be judged by a panel that includes the screenwriter for The Passion of the Christ and the actor Eduardo Verastegui from the movie Bella.
Their website gives some examples of video shorts to give film-makers an idea of what to expect. Act fast because the deadline for submissions is January 30th.
