YoutubeNovember 6, 2009. Twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, memories of the historic event are up at the Museum of Rome in Trastevere.

From the construction in 1961 to the destruction.

This exhibit tells the story of communities, families and loved ones separated for nearly a quarter of a century, through famous photographs that once graced the covers of newspapers during the Cold War.

Those who lived thorough the event, may remember this famous image of a teenager sitting on the wall with one leg on each side. The photo was snapped by photographer Raymond Depardon.

The wall stretched for 140 kilometers through Berlin, separating western Europe from then communist eastern Germany.

The wall came down on November 9th 1989. A moment that is being remembered through memorials, concerts and exhibits like these in all corners of the world.
