The promotional video for the upcoming World Youth Day Madrid 2011 has been officially released. It plays off the official theme “The soul of Madrid.” Its goal is to inspire youth from around the world to join in the event.
Almost all the actors are volunteers from WYD Madrid 2011.
Famous sites from around the city appear in the video. Sites include the Museo del Prado, the Plaza de Cibeles and the Madrid Barajas airport. The work was produced by a team from Telemadrid, the region's public television station.
The promotional video asks, “Where is the soul of Madrid?” Young people from around the world say it's in places such as its art, its streets or in its beliefs. Two young men conclude the segment by saying a city's soul is in “its ability to change the lives of the people who pass through it.”
The video goes on to explain what World Youth Day is. It shows images of the pope, scenes from previous editions of World Youth Day, and places in Madrid that will host the various events.
Forty young people from Spain, Mexico, France, Ivory Coast, Brazil, Italy and Poland who all live in Madrid are featured in the video. They beat out the rest of the 120 young people who responded to a casting call for the video.
Both English and Spanish versions of the video are available on the Internet.
