July 20, 2009. This is the first time the pope prayed the angelus in public while on vacation and also his first appearance after his wrist operation. It was in Romano Canavese, the birthplace of Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Vatican secretary of state.

The pope addressed young people and told them that while older people challenge the current economic model, todays youth should consider whether the culture and models proposed by society are compatible with the gospel and true freedom.

Benedict XVI
Young people have a wealth of resources but they must overcome the temptation to choose the easy and deceptive way to find the right path to a true and full life.

He also thanked everyone who prayed for him and who were worried about his fall and subsequent wrist operation.

Benedict XVI
As you can see, due to my fall, Im a little limited physically, but my heart is completely with you, with great joy.

Next Saturday the pope will celebrate the Angelus in the Aosta Valley, the town where he spends his vacations.
