December 16, 2009. When the Pope visited the Czech Republic in September he made a very special donation.
His crown. He donated it to the world famous statuette of the Infant Jesus of Prague at the Church of Our Lady Victory.
After some alterations, the statue is now reportedly, donning Benedict XVI crown just in time for Advent.
The royal crown, is decorated with eight shells, the symbol of St. Augustine which is also present in the Pope’s coat of arms. It’s made of silver and its decorated with pearls and garnets. There’s also an inscription beneath the crown’s cross with the date on which the Pope donated the gift.
Thousands of people from all over the world who believe in its healing power venerate the infant Jesus every day.
