John Paul II to be beatified possibly within a year

YoutubeOctober 14, 2010. The process to have have John Paul II beatified is accelerating. The two doctors from an outside commision consulted by the Vatican to evaluate a possible miracle have confirmed that they have no scientific explanation for an amazing cure. The case involves a French nun, Marie Simon-Pierre, whose parkinson’s disease disappeared.

The 44 year old French nun had been struggling with Parkinson's since 2001. Just two months after the death of John Paul II on June 2, 2005, she was suddenly cured.

The cause for John Paul II’s beatification is now entering the last phase. The medical board evaluating the extraordinary healing will meet in December to make an official decision.

Following that, the cardinals and bishops of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints will verify that all procedures were followed in the process. If all goes well, they will ask Pope Benedict to officially declare the miracle as being authentic.

It is expected the Pope will officially approve the miracle this Spring. The beatification could then take place within a year’s time, possibly in October 2011, coinciding with the 33rd anniversary of when John Paul II was elected pope.
