August 29, 2012. (Romereports.com) During the summer, a familiar face has been helping Benedict XVI. It seems as though John Paul II's former butler, Angelo Gugel, has been assisting the Pope. More than likely though, he's simply filling in for the current substitute butler.
Angelo Gugel worked for Benedict XVI until 2006, before being replaced by Paolo Gabriele, who is now known for the Vatileaks case.
Gugel has also assisted Benedict XVI in previous years, during the summer holiday.
