April 12, 2012. (Romereports.com) Benedict XVI has asked the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and in particular its prefect, Cardinal William Levada, to examine whether members of the Neocatechumenal Way, celebrate Mass within the doctrine and liturgical practices of the Church.
According to writer, Sandro Magister, the Vatican will reportedly analyze this issue, to prevent these communities from developing a new liturgical rite that doesn't necessarily follow the traditional one.
Last January the Pope approved the so called Christian initiation
ceremonies carried about by its members. The Neocatechumenal Way is an
itinerary of catechesis for adults, where the goal is for them to
rediscover their baptism. It's led under the direction of a bishop, but
its initiators are Kiko Argüello and Carmen Hernández.
