Massimo Cenci dies, deputy secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples

YoutubeMay 11, 2012. (Romereports.com) The number three of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Massimo Cenci died in Rome due to a heart attack in the early morning. The pope planned to greet him at this meeting but instead gave an emotional speech that remembered the late prelate.

“I think, like all of you, of Father Massimo Cenci, the deputy secretary. May God reward him for all the work he has done as a missionary and serving the Holy See.”


Massimo Cenci belonged to the PIME, the Pontifical Institute for Missions. He served as a missionary in Brazil. He was 68 years old and was the undersecretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples since 2001.
