01 Dicember, 2012 (Romereports.com) With the Advent around the corner, the Archdiocese of Sidney is making it easier for worldwide Catholics track down the Nativity.
They launched the 2012 version of the XT3 Advent calendar mobile app for Apple and Android phones. The main goal, according to the diocese, is to reach out to youth and get them to participate in the four week period leading up to the birth of Jesus.
The app is available to download at the Sidney diocese's social media site www.xt3.com/advent. Starting December 2, the first Sunday of Advent, users will be able to unlock a door for each day day, leading up to Christmas, but continues until Epiphany. Each door contains a bible verse, thought, video or interview.
In 2011, more than 1000 people downloaded the app. But this year, as its popularity surges, they are hopeful that so will youth participation in the Advent.
