weekly general audience. For about 45 minutes, the Pope greeted the
crowds.
On several occasions, he even got out of the Popemobile to greet ill or disabled children.
Before the start of the audience, a girl who was wearing her
first communion dress, gave the Pope a bouquet of flowers. The Pope
placed them at the feet of Our Lady of Luján, who is actually the

On Monday July 22nd, the Pope will leave the Vatican and board a plane to Rio. After the 12 hour flight, Pope Francis will be welcomed by Brazil's president Dilma Rousseff in the city's Guanabara palace. With a mixture of adrenaline and excitement these new Swiss Guards are making sure their colorful uniforms are perfect and their nerves under control. Every year, on May 6th, new recruits of the world's smallest army take their oath and officially become part of the Pope's defense corps. The army has about 110 members. The Vatican has released what the Pope's schedule will look like during his visit to Rio de Janeiro. From July 22nd to the 29th, the Pope will be in Brazil. as he arrived for an official visit to the Vatican on Friday morning.
Flanked by the Swiss Guards and the Papal Gentlemen, President Sleiman
made his way through the hallways of the Apostolic Palace to meet with Pope Francis. Pope
Francis led the Lebanese president to his office, where they spoke for a
few minutes, with the help of a French and Arab interpreter.
