(Romereports.com) More
than 7,000 people took part in Wednesday's general audience at Paul
VI Hall. Benedict XVI continued his catechesis on the Year of Faith.
This time around, he focused on how faith and reason complement each
other.
He said faith allows you to know God, and that along with reason, it shapes all activities towards achieving a greater good.
BENEDICT XVI “Far
from being in conflict, faith and science go hand in hand in the
service of man’s moral advancement and his wise stewardship of
creation.”
On Wednesday, the Church also observed the Day of
Enclosed Religious Orders. The Pope asked attendees to help these
monasteries in prayer and monetarily.
BENEDICT XVI “I
invite all Christians to help so that these enclosed monasteries will
not go without spiritual and material assistance. We owe a great deal to
these people who devote themselves completely to prayer on behalf of
the Church and the world.”
Before closing off the audience, Benedict XVI addressed the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. He called on Israeli and Palestinian leaders to take courageous steps to achieve peace.
