(Romereports.com) During Sunday's
Angelus Benedict XVI talked about Christmas, reminding people that
celebrating the birth of Jesus, should not be overshadowed by consumerism. He urged people to recognize that happiness is not found in materialism.
BENEDICT XVI “Within
a society of consumerism, we are tempted to seek joy in things. But
John the Baptist teaches us to focus on the essential, so that Christmas
is seen not as an exterior celebration, but as a celebration honoring
the Son of God, who came to bring peace, life and true joy to humanity.”
The
Pope read a few excerpts from his latest book “Jesus of Nazareth: The
Infancy Narratives.” The Pope explained that St. Luke gives detailed
information on the birth of Jesus, showing that it was a real event that changed history.
