(Romereports.com) The group arrived to
the last leg of their trip at Paul VI Hall at the Vatican, tired but
happy. The young men and women came from Mexico, bringing their flags, and an affectionate song dedicated to Benedict XVI.
“Benedicto, brother, you are now Mexican, Benedicto brother, you are now Mexican...”
Their goal was to make the Pope smile and show him once again the affection they feel for him in Mexico.
FRANCO BAEZ Pilgrim “I
will tell all my family that I was with the Pope, and well I already
had the chance to see him because he came to visit us in Leon,
Guanajuato.”
They are between 12 and 17 years old, and though they just met recently, the group discovered they have much in common.
At their school, called Regnum Christi, they were invited to take part on a pilgrimage to Rome organized every year for Christmas. They embarked on their trip December 26.
ANGEL CALAZ, MAURICIO MAZATAN Pilgrims “I
feel different now. I feel that the Pope blessed me and I feel happy
knowing that God has embraced me. This is a unique, once in a lifetime
opportunity, and that not many people can do. We feel fortunate.”
Their return to Mexico will be marked by new friendships, and the memories they have shared while at the resting place of St. Peter.
