(Romereports.com) Following this week's general audience, Benedict XVI personally greeted Prince Vladimir Karadjordjevic and his wife Princess Brigitta, of Yugoslavia.
Their 30 second encounter with the Pope began with Prince Vladimir kissing the Pope's hand. He then introduced his wife, Princess Brigitta, whom presented the Pope with a small gift wrapped in brightly colored paper.
Prince Vladimir is a member of the Serbian Orthodox Church, but he states that he is committed to promoting “tolerance among all religions.”
The
couple belongs to the Karadjordjevic dynasty, the last to rule
Yugoslavia, before the abolition of the monarchy and the arrival of
Communism. Prince Vladimir is seventh in line to the throne after current Crown Prince Alexander. He actively advocates restoring the monarchy to Serbia, the successor state to Yugoslavia.
