Vatican top judge: 'unacceptable' to attack defenseless, unborn lives

January 26, 2013

(Romereports.com) One of the most powerful Americans inside the Vatican, and a staunch pro-life supporter, says there is no better time to voice support for the respect of human life and dignity, through events like the March for Life.

CARD. RAYMOND BURKE

Prefect, Supremo Tribunale della Segnatura Apostolica
“It has become more important than ever to give a strong witness to the invaluable dignity of human life and to the integrity to the family in our nation, whose government has become more anti life, anti family.”

Cardinal Raymond Burke serves as the prefect for the Supremo Tribunale della Segnatura Apostolica, the Vatican's equivalent of the Supreme Court.

As the top judge for the Holy See and interpreter of the Church's laws, Cardinal Burke says Catholics should not be afraid to profess what he called the “moral truth” about human life.

He adds that events like the March for Life, which annually gathers hundreds of thousands of people in Washington, D.C., send an important message.

CARD. RAYMOND BURKE
Prefect, Supremo Tribunale della Segnatura Apostolica
“It's 40 years now since that decision, and so it's more important than ever to maintain this March for Life to have it grow and increase and to give that strong witness in the society in general, and especially to the our government leaders that it's absolutely unacceptable in the US to attack innocent defenseless unborn human life.”

Cardinal Burke also referred to the Catholic Church as one of the few remaining institutions that actively promotes God's natural role for life and family.

He went on to say that talking more openly about the defense of life will lead to greater reflection from society, and eventually a favorable outcome.
