Pope honors St. John Bosco, explains what different generations can learn from him

January 30, 2013

(Romereports.com) January 31st is the feast of St. John Bosco, founder of the Salesians. This year marks 200 years since his birth and 125 since his death. During his weekly general audience, Benedict XVI invited all generations to follow this saint's example.

BENEDICT XVI

“This morning we celebrate the feast day of St. John Bosco, a priest and educator. I urge the youth to see him as an authentic teacher of life. To my ill brothers and sisters, I urge you to learn from his spirituality, so you many always trust in Christ. And you, dear newlyweds, seek his intercession, so you may fulfill your spousal role, with generosity.”

St. John Bosco was born in Italy. As a priest, he was known as a great teacher to the youth. He founded several schools under the premise of studying and also learning a trade to earn a living.
