Canadian Cardinal Collins undecided who to vote for still

March 5, 2013

(Romereports.com) The youngest of the three Canadian cardinals voting in the conclave said he still has not made up his mind on who he would vote for.

Cardinal Thomas Collins, the archbishop of Toronto, said that there are many good candidates, including fellow Canadian Marc Ouellet, but that it is too soon to determine who should be the next Successor to Peter.

“It's important just to listen during the initial period of consultation, to listen to reflect and then at that point that's when I think its good to make a few good initial determination of the person to choose.”

As far as the moving the start date of the conclave sooner, Cardinal Collins said that all the cardinals need time to get to know one another, and to pray and reflect together. But the bottom line.

“I thought about it. I think prob moving it forward a little bit might make some sense.”

Ever since Benedict XVI resigned, Collins said people have constantly come up to him and told him that they would be praying for him and the other papal electors.

Nonetheless, despite the difficult task ahead, he said he's excited to take part in his first conclave. Having already booked his return flight to Toronto, he jokingly added that he hopes the new Pope is chosen before Palm Sunday.
