CARD. JEAN-LOUIS TAURAN Cardinal Deacon Archive October 9, 2007 “We
need to talk with one another. It is necessary to discover the values
we have in common in order to make this world a better place. Religion
has to be what fosters peace not strife.”
As Cardinal
Deacon, he has an important role after the conclave comes to a close. If
he is not elected Pope, he has to go out to the balcony of St. Peter's
Basilica to tell the world that a Pope has been elected. He will
announce those two awaited and historic words of: “Habemus Papam.”
