(Romereports.com) Since the moment the Pope left Leon's Miraflores College where he was staying, the music and cheers were hard to miss. He was then transferred by helicopter to Guanajuato's airport, where again he was greeted by thousands of people.
The Pope thanked Mexico for its hospitality and asked its people to combine their strong faith with hope.
Benedict XVI “I
beg the Lord that all these efforts may not be in vain, and that with
his help, they may produce abundant and long-lasting fruits in the life
of faith, hope and charity of León and Guanajuato, in Mexico and the
other countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.”
Mexico's president, Felipe Calderon also thanked the Pope for his three day visit. Especially for comforting those who've been affected by the country's rise in violence.
Felipe Calderon Mexico's President “From
this point on, I'm sure Mexican families will double their efforts, to
live out their values to the highest standard. It's a call many Mexicans
already share with you, to live in peace and harmony.”
The Pope then directly addressed the issue by calling on Mexicans to 'not me intimidated by the powers of evil.' Instead, he called on them to strengthen their faith, values and Christian roots.
Benedict XVI “I
wish to reiterate clearly and with vigor a plea to the Mexican people
to remain faithful to yourselves, not to let yourselves be intimidated
by the powers of evil, but to be valiant and to work to ensure that the
sap of your Christian roots may nourish your present and your future.”
With mariachi music in the background, the Pope said good bye to Mexico. But, the country's president also invited the Pope to visit the country again in the near future. Remember Holy Father, that Mexico, he said, is your home.
