November 1, 2011. (Romereports.com) December 25 will be the first 'Day of Non-Violence' in social networks.
The movement is meant to reduce violent content on the Internet and to
call on media companies to make responsible decisions on their content.
Besides being Christmas Day, it's also the tenth anniversary of the UN program “Culture of Peace and Non-violence for the Children of the World”. It will also remember the day when British and German troops agreed to a truce to celebrate Christmas during the First World War.
The event already has it's own website and Facebook profile.
The idea comes from the program “Safe Social Media” funded by the European Union. It promotes responsible use of the internet and video games for children.
The program has already kicked off and reached at least 10,000 adolescents, 2,000 parents, 120 teachers and 50 schools in Italy and Spain.
