Ms. Vaišvilaitė had previously worked for Vatican Radio from 1991 to 1998. During her meeting with the pope, the two spoke in Italian and the new ambassador described her background in art history and history of the Church. At the end of their encounter, the pope gave the ambassador a medal of his pontificate.
