June 28, 2011. (Romereports.com) The pope is getting ready to launch a new website that will bring together all the Vatican's communication sites. It's a way to make things more accessible to the public while improving its presence in social networks. The website is titled “news.va”
On this site anyone can view the latest news from Vatican Radio, Fides, the Vatican Television Center, the Osservatore Romano and the Vatican press room.
Mons. Claudio Celli
President, Pontifical Council for Social Communications“With this new site, the Holy See opens itself in a modern, current way in the world of communication.”Giovanni Maria Vian
Director, L'Osservatore Romano“It underscores and reinforces the cooperation that exists among the Holy See's media. But really, it isn't a new mass media.”
Gustavo Entrala
Digital Media Agency 101, (Spain)“It's a website that is kind of the heart of the news content in the Church because it gathers oxygen from everywhere, from all the sources. Then it let's people spread the content throughout the world.”The Vatican hired a company outside of Italy, to do the website. It took roughly 8 months to create, under the direction of Gustavo Entrala who led the creative group in the making of news.va.
Gustavo Entrala
Digital Media Agency 101, (Spain)“It allows people to share the content with whoever they want and whenever they want. It will be very helpful in the broadcasting of live events. This will be the platform from which you'll be able to follow live events.”
The website will include videos, pictures, different texts, as well as speeches and press releases. Behind the scenes, the most complicated job will be for American Thaddeus Jones and his team. Together, they'll have to choose the most relevant news about three times a day, before uploading it on the web. So now anyone, who visits news.va, will be up to date on all the official news going on in the world's smallest state.
