YoutubeDecember 23, 2010.  The Vatican has announced the election of a Chinese priest, Fr. Savio Hon Tai-Fai from Hong Kong, to hold the number two position in of its most important offices.

He will serve as secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, raising him to the status of Archbishop.

This comes after recent tension between the two parties, when the Vatican accused China of oppressing religious freedom and attempting to control the conscience of its citizens and interfere in the internal affairs of the Catholic Church

Father Hon Tai-Fai will be in charge of choosing new bishops for 1/3 of the world.
