January 11, 2012. (Romereports.com) The Pope appointed Brazil's nuncio,
Lorenzo Baldisseri, as the new Secretary of the Congregation for Bishops. This department oversees many important activities such as the
selection
of new bishops, 'ad limina' visits and the establishment of dioceses.
In 1992, the Italian priest was appointed apostolic nuncio in
Haiti. The
following years, he also worked in Paraguay, India, Nepal and lastly, Brazil.
