YoutubeOctober 14, 2009. During the general audience, Benedict XVI said that forgiveness, the search for peace and openness towards others should distinguish Christians.

The pope said that like the 12th century Abbott of Cluny Peter the Venerable, Christians shouldn’t get tired of loving others especially during times marked by intolerance, lack of communication and conflicts.

The pope highlighted Peter the Venerable’s sense of unity and his understanding of the manifestation of the love of God in tending to others.

Benedict XVI
“He expressed an interest in those outside the Church, specifically Jews and Muslims, in ways which were remarkable for his day”.

The pope described Peter the Venerable as a great Christian for his example of obedience to God, humility and capacity of work.
