ONLY VIDEO-) The pope has attended the fourth and final sermon in Advent, in which the Preacher to the Papal Household, Raniero Cantalamessa, reflected on the role of the laity in the New Evangelization.
The preacher said to the pope and the Vatican Curia that “the parable of the lost sheep has changed: ninety-nine sheep have moved away and one has remained in the fold.”
He added: “The danger is to spend all your time nurturing the one that has remained, and having no time, due to the lack of priests, to seek out the lost sheep. In this area, the help of the laity is providential.”
According to the Franciscan, the New Evangelization by the laity has a lot of value because “it is free and often pays for themselves out of their own pocket”.
