June 15, 2009. Last month, Pope Benedict decried the fact that one out of five people in the world go hungry.
And during this week’s angelus he touched on the theme of world hunger once again.
Benedict XVIIt's absolutely unacceptable that world hunger reduction has been slow, despite all the efforts in recent decades.
Benedict urged world leaders once more to come together to find more rapid solutions to world hunger which has become an even greater concern because of the global recession.
Benedict XVII hope therefore that at the next conference of the United Nations and international organizations that measures be taken and executed by the entire international community. These decisions, though at times difficult to reach, are necessary to guarantee basic nutrition and a life worthy of human dignity for all today and in the future.
The Pope concluded by encouraging everyone to offer prayers during the year of the priest which begins on June 19th.
