November 29, 2011. (Romereports.com) Benedict XVI expressed his deep “pain” to learn of the execution of four persons kidnapped by the terrorist group in Colombia known as the FARC.
The Holy See's Secretary of State sent a message to Colombia's ambassador to the Vatican, Cesar Mauricio Velasquez. The message conveyed the pope's “deep pain” he felt upon hearing this tragic news. It also said the pope is praying for the families of the victims and the people of Colombia during their time of suffering. The statement also makes a call for an end to violence in the country.
Benedict XVI has made several appeals for peace in Colombia. In his different meetings with Colombians, he often offers a prayer for “an end as soon possible to these situations that cause so much pain so that Colombia can enjoy a stable and just peace”.
