June 6, 2012. (Romereports.com) As
Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her Diamond Jubilee, she has been congratulated by different world leaders-and among them is the Pope.
Through a letter,
Benedict XVI congratulated the Queen for her 60 year reign. He thanked her for her kindness and hospitality during his 2010 visit to the United Kingdom.
He then went on to highlight her 'commitment and cooperation' between those who practice different religions.
He also writes that her commitment has strengthened and improved ecumenism and inter-religious relations. The Queen's coronation took place on June 2, 1953. In 1977, she celebrated her Silver Jubilee, which marks 25 years. Then a quarter of a century later, she celebrated her Golden Jubilee in 2002. Now, in 2012, she's taking on her 60 year celebration.
The Pope concluded the letter, by writing that he will be praying for her health and prosperity.
