September 28, 2011. (Romereports.com) The Vatican's Tribunal of the Roman Rota has a new responsibility. Under orders of the pope, it will now study the annulment of marriages that were celebrated, yet never consummated. It will also investigate the nullity of priestly ordinations.


Up until now, the issue was dealt with by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. But now the pope decided this department should only focus on promoting the liturgy.
