After spending three days in Lebanon, the Pope left the country
on Sunday afternoon. His departure followed a farewell ceremony at Beirut's international airport, where hundreds of youths gathered to hear the Pope's closing remarks.
Also in attendance was the President of Lebanon, the Speaker of Parliament, council ministers, Catholic patriarchs and Lebanese bishops.
During his last speech in Lebanon, Benedict XVI thanked the country for its warm hospitality. He then asked Lebanon to continue its tradition of religious plurality, by resisting the influence of those who oppose it.
