Pope explains how doubt was created in Judas

YoutubeAugust 27, 2012. (Romereports.com) On Sunday morning, pilgrims gathered in the town square of Castel Gandolfo in order to hear the pope pray the Angelus.

Benedict XVI continued his meditation on the “Bread of life” discourse which he has mentioned on previous Sundays. He described how many of the disciples temporarily left Jesus because they didn't fully understand him.

Benedict XVI
“He said: 'I am the living bread which came down from heaven. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood will live forever'. This revelation, as I have said, remained incomprehensible to them, because they understood it in a material sense.”

The apostles, however, chose to remain with Jesus. But this event did create doubt in Judas that eventually led to his betrayal of Jesus.

Benedict XVI
“The problem is that Judas did not go away, and his most serious fault was falsehood, which is the mark of the devil.”

The pope then offered a special greeting to the new seminarians attending the Pontifical North American College in Rome.

He then waved good-bye to pilgrims, young and old, that had gathered to hear him.
