December 14, 2012. (Romereports.com) The Christmas tree is a Christian tradition that  exemplifies the birth of Jesus as the light that fills the world. Those are the words from Benedict XVI during a meeting with townspeople from Pescopennataro, a small town in the Italian region of Isernia that this year provided the Vatican's Christmas tree.

BENEDICT XVI
“God made man and has been among us to disperse the shadows of error and sin, leaving mankind its divine light. This light, which is symbolized by the tree, has not waned as the centuries and millenniums go by, instead it continues to glow among us to light up each man that comes into the world.”

Benedict XVI recalled that when God's role is attempted to get erased from history, words such as liberty or justice lose their meaning.
