YoutubeSeptember 26, 2012. (Romereports.com) With roughly 10,000 people gathered in St. Peter's Square, the Pope led Wednesday's general audience by explaining how the Liturgy should also be seen as a school of prayer. As the 50th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council approaches, he also talked about the role of the Council in communicating the Liturgy.

BENEDICT XVI
“It is in the liturgy that we “lift up our hearts”, opening ourselves to the word of God as we gather with our brethren in a prayer which rises within us, and which is directed to the Father, through the Son, in the Spirit.”

Among the thousands of people who attended the general audience was the President of the Chamber Deputies of Chile, who came along with other politicians. The Pope reminded them about their responsibility to seek the common good.

BENEDICT XVI
“I also want to remind Catholic politicians about the responsibility to generously seek the common good of all citizens, in a manner that's consistent with the convictions of the children of the Church.”

This choir from Australia sang a unique and traditional song for Benedict XVI. Thousands enjoyed the melody, including the Pope.
